In 2014 happened the first Thoracic Aorta Lisbon Symposium in the exquisite Pestana Palace conference room. People gathered with enthusiasm for what would become an informative meeting with the top of the industry.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
TAVI, TEVAR, FET, hybrid, Petti Coat, Freestyle, EVITA, SACP, David, bioBentall, INVUS and neuro-monitoring for spinal cord protection, are procedures and techniques, increasingly used in the complex thoracic aorta disease surgical treatment.
In the last decade we witnessed an extraordinary development in the accuracy of diagnosis, surgical and anaesthetic techniques and therapeutic options for these patients. Few years ago, several were inoperable due to potential associated devastating complications. Nowadays we can do it almost in a routine manner with excellent short and long term outcomes.
The aim of the Thoracic Aorta Lisbon Symposium 2016 is to divulge what is done in the world and teach us all how to do so in Portugal, better and more reproducible.
This year, we invited an exceptional panel of national and foreign experts with extensive experience or even the highest experience, in different fields. We want to know how far we can go with this recent technology that has brought new surgical indications and completely changed the way we look to today to the thoracic aorta from the valve to the intra-abdominal segment.
The theme is «Interdisciplinary is one of the keys of future cardiovascular medicine» and we want to see, ask, learn and discuss clinical cases and indications. The collaboration between different specialties is enriching and the first to benefit are our patients. The Symposium is designed to fulfil all these purposes.
It is a privilege on behalf of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of the Hospital de Santa Marta to invite you to attend, at Museum of the Orient in Lisboa, Friday and Saturday, November 18th and 19th 2016, the Third Edition of Thoracic Aorta Lisbon Symposium.
